DuPont introduces new metallization paste for flexible roll-to-roll PV processing

On August 30th, 2011, DuPont Microcircuit Materials (Bristol, U.K.) announced the introduction of a new low-temperature processing metallization paste to enable roll-to-roll processing of thin and flexible solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules. DuPont notes that its Solamet PV414 paste was recently qualified at Flexcell (Yverdon-Les-Bains, Switzerland), a producer of flexible amorphous silicon thin film PV modules. Read more

PV manufacturing equipment: Bürkle to present new PV module laminator at EU PVSEC

Robert Bürkle GmbH (Freudenstadt, Germany) has announced that it will unveil new equipment for laminating solar photovoltaic (PV) modules at the EU PVSEC trade show in Hamburg, Germany on September 5th to 8th, 2011. The company states that its new e.a.s.y-Lam SL system offers reduced process times, greater throughput, higher temperatures for laminating glass-foil modules, and ultimately lower costs. Read more

New Report: Solar can meet 5 - 7% of India's total power requirements by 2021-2022

A study published by KPMG, a global consulting company forecasts that solar power can meet 5-7% of India?s total power requirements by 2021-22, the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy reports. In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah said India has good potential for solar power as it receives solar energy equivalent to over 5,000 trillion kWh per year, which is far more than the total energy consumption of the country. PV in Latin America: Solarpack awarded contract for 16MW solar power plant in Peru

SOLARPACK, a Spanish multi-national company specializing in solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant development, construction, and consulting services, was awarded the entirety of the solar energy segment in the second renewable energy tender (RER) of Peru. The power purchase agreement will be signed on September the 30th, 2011with the Peruvian government, the company announces. Solarpack expects revenue of USD 105 million USD from the agreement. Canadian Solar to unveil PV modules based on ELPS technology at EU PVSEC

On September 1st, 2011, Canadian Solar Inc. (Kitchener, Ontario) announced that it will launch a new solar photovoltaic (PV) module based on cells with up to 19.5% efficiencies at the upcoming 2011 EU PVSEC trade show in Hamburg, Germany. The new modules will use Canadian Solar's ELPS cell technology, with incorporates metal-wrap-through architecture. The modules will come in both monocrystalline and polycrystalline versions, with ratings up to 265 watts. Read more

US Ex-Im Bank awards over $455 million in loan guarantees to First Solar to build Ontario PV plants

The US Export-Import Bank will provide First Solar with $455.7 million of loan guarantees to construct a pair of solar PV power projects in Ontario, Canada. The bank will guarantee a $236.7 million loan for a 50MW plant to be built near Amherstburg, Belmont, and Walpole townships, and another $219 million loan for a 40MW farm slated for construction in St. Clair. The debt will be repaid over 18 years. Read more
