University of Toronto-led research improves performance of next-generation solar cell technology
Sunday, 9.25.2011 - 22:49 (Solarserver)
Researchers from the University of Toronto (U of T), King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST) and Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) have created the most efficient colloidal quantum dot (CQD) solar cell ever, U of T announces in a press release. The discovery is reported in the latest issue of "Nature Materials". Quantum dots are nano-scale semiconductors that capture light and convert it into electrical energy. Because of their small scale, the dots can be sprayed onto flexible surfaces, including plastics. This enables the production of solar photovoltaic (PV) cells that are less expensive than the existing silicon-based version. Read moreAir Liquide announces five contracts to the PV industry
Sunday, 9.25.2011 - 22:48 (Solarserver)
On September 14th, 2011, Air Liquide SA (Paris, France) announced that it has signed five major contracts with companies in the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry in China, India, Morocco, Vietnam and the U.S., mostly for the supply of gases and related equipment. In the U.S., Air Liquide will supply electronic gases and related equipment for Stion Corporation's (San Jose, California, U.S.) new copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) thin-film PV manufacturing facility in Mississippi.
