Sequel Power, Table Rock Capital form partnership to develop utility-scale PV

On September 14th, 2011, Tegal Corporation (Petaluma, California, U.S.) announced that its portfolio company Sequel Power LLC (Castle Rock, Colorado, U.S.) has partnered with Table Rock Capital (TRC, San Francisco, California, U.S.) to accelerate the development of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. Sequel Power states that it currently has more than a dozen active projects in various stages of analyzing and developing solar utilities in six nations. On September 15th, 2011, Arizona Public Service Co. (APS, Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.) announced that it has issued a request for proposals for developers to build a 17 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility. The project will be financed by APS through the utility's AZ Sun Program, and when completed in 2013, will be owned and operated by APS. On September 14th, 2011, Solutia Inc. (St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.) reduced its earnings per share (EPS) guidance for 2011 by 8% to a range of USD 1.95 to 2.05 per share. The company states that this downgrade reflects lower demand for its products across several industries including the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry, as well as raw material cost pressures. OMVS, Texas Southern University ink agreement to develop printable solar technology

On September 14th, 2011, On the Move Systems (Tampa, Fla.) announced that it signed an agreement with Texas Southern University to co-develop next-generation printable solar panels. Under the agreement, TSU will take responsibility for the design, testing, assembly and revision of innovative solar materials, printer heads, base materials and commercial applications, while OMVS will provide the necessary funding. On September 14th, 2011, the SunPower Foundation (San Jose, Calif.), announced that it donated its high efficiency solar photovoltaic (PV) panels to Greenpeace Africa for its solar training course. During a two week solar training course in Durban, South Africa, 30 local youth will install the solar panels and will complete course modules covering social entrepreneurship and Greenpeace's Energy evolution report. Regional utility company Arizona Public Service has issued a request for proposal to solar developers and installers to build a 17MW photovoltaic power plant, using commercially proven technology, which will be financed by APS through the company?s AZ Sun Program. Stion CIGSSe modules hit record efficiencies as company opens new production facility

On the occasion of the grand-opening ceremony of its manufacturing facility in Mississippi, thin-film PV company Stion also announced that the DOE?s National Renewable Energy Laboratory has verified 14.1% conversion efficiency for its monolithically integrated CIGSSe modules manufactured at its San Jose headquarters facility.
