GE Brilliance PV inverter receives UL certification

On September 13th, 2011, General Electric Company (Schenectady, New York, U.S.) announced that its 1 MW Brilliance solar inverter has received two certifications from Underwriters Laboratories (UL, Northbrook, Illinois, U.S.). The inverters passed tests on performance under extreme environmental conditions including temperature, as well as voltage and grid fluctuations to receive the UL 1741 and CSA 22.2 No. 107.1-0 certifications. Order Focus: Opel trackers equip Conergy?s PV portfolio in Northern California

Conergy US has chosen to equip its portfolio of PV projects in Northern California with Opel Solar?s TF-800 series single-axis trackers. The trackers will be fitted with Conergy?s P 235W PV modules. Work has already finished on the portfolio?s first system, a 480kW array at a waste water treatment plant in California Central Valley, and Opel CEO Leon Pierhal believes this could be the first of many projects alongside Conergy. French government enlists help of Tenesol for smart grid project

The Institute for Print and Media Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology developed solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, which are printed with special inks with electrical properties on standard paper Researchers at Chemnitz University of Technology have now presented solar panels that are printed on paper. The technology known as 3PV (3PV stands for printed paper photovoltaics) uses conventional printing methods and standard substrates, like those used for magazines, posters or packaging, The Institute for Print and Media Technology reports in a press release. Report: Calisolar cuts workforce at California cell facility, focuses on polysilicon manufacturing

Just a little over a week after Calisolar announced plans to build a 16,000MT silicon production facility in Lowndes County, Mississippi, the company has advised of plans to lay off 80 employees at its Silicon Valley factory. According to GigaOM, the company released a statement noting that it was compressing its solar cell production as it began to shift its focus to polysilicon manufacturing. ?We will significantly downsize commercial cell production and?as a result?reduce the labor force? at the Sunnyvale, California, facility, the company said in the statement. NRG, Washington Redskins unveil 2MW solar installation at FedEx Field

GE to provide CdTe panels, inverters, BOS components for expansion of Brazilian solar power plant

GE has entered the Brazilian solar market with its new agreement signed with MPX, a division of EBX Group. ADB to provide USD 100 million loan for Gujarat Solar Transmission Project

On September 13th, 2011, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced that it will provide a USD 100 million loan to the Indian state of Gujarat for a transmission project to help speed the construction of large solar plants. The ADB Board of Directors has approved the financing for a substation, transmission lines and other equipment for the Gujarat Solar Power Transmission Project.
