Photovoltaics in Italy: Etrion completes 2.6MW Nettuno solar park

Etrion Corporation (Geneva; Switzerland), an independent solar power producer, in August 2011 announced the completion of the Nettuno solar park in Lazio, Italy. The Nettuno park has a total capacity of 2.6 megawatts (MW) and due to Etrion is expected to produce more than 3.5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean electricity and approximately EUR 1.0 million of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) per year. India's MNRE supports PV systems for 400 telecom towers

On August 19th, 2011, India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) announced that it has supported pilot projects to provide solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for 400 telecommunications towers. Indian Minister of New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah stated that his agency supported these projects primarily to demonstrate the efficiency of such systems in replacing diesel generation in areas without secure electricity supplies. SunWize to distribute AUO PV modules, including new inverter integrated AC module in North America

PV producer China Sunergy reports 24% decrease in revenues, net loss in 2Q 2011 results

On August 19th, 2011, China Sunergy Company Ltd. (Nanjing, China) released financial results for the second quarter of 2011, reporting a 13% decrease in revenues to USD 144 million and a net loss of USD 16.9 million, as well as decreased shipments. However, the company reported operational successes during the quarter, including investing in a 1GW solar photovoltaic (PV) cell expansion project in Yangzhou, China, and the beginning of operation of a new pilot line to produce its Quasar PV cells. Photovoltaics in Italy: Deutsche Bank, Helaba and KfW IPEX-Bank provide EUR 110 million in loans for five PV plants

A consortium of banks comprising Deutsche Bank, Helaba Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen and KfW IPEX-Bank has provided outside financing for five photovoltaic (PV) power plants of significant size located in Italy, making loans amounting to over EUR 110 million available. IKEA commissions 252kW solar system at San Diego, California location

Darden Restaurants to install 1.1MW PV system at headquarters facility; Addition to be the largest private solar array in Florida

Darden Restaurants (Orlando, Fla.) on August 22nd, 2011 announced that it will soon begin installation of 1.1 megawatts (MW) of solar panel roofing at its Restaurant Support Center (RSC) in Orlando. The project will be the largest private solar photovoltaic (PV) array in Florida and it will generate enough power to subsidize 15 to 20 percent of the RSC's annual usage, or the equivalent of taking the campus off the grid for nearly two months, the company emphasizes in a press release. Japan?s renewables bill clears first hurdle in parliament

The lower house of Japan?s parliament has passed a new green bill aimed at promoting investment in solar and other renewable energy sources and weaning the country off nuclear power. LDK Solar slashes 2Q 2011 guidance

(Xinyu City, China) released a dramatically downgraded guidance for the second quarter and fiscal year (FY) 2011, which it attributes to the "significant drop" in both silicon wafer and solar photovoltaic (PV) prices. The company now estimates second quarter 2011 revenues at between USD 480 and 500 million, a 33% decrease from its former guidance, and FY 2011 revenues between USD 2.5 and 2.7 billion, a 28% decrease.
