AT&T partners with Digi to offer smart grid solutions

On August 17th, 2011, AT&T Inc. (Dallas, Texas, U.S.) announced that it has partnered with Digi International Inc. (Minnetonka, Minnesota, U.S.) to offer Digi X-Grid smart grid solutions to residential and business electricity consumers. Through this new partnership AT&T will offer additional applications for electric meters that it has already installed on its wireless network, including thermostats and load control devices. Indium Corporation (Clinton, NY) is featuring its newly developed copper-gallium and indium rotary sputtering targets at the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC), September 5-8, 2011 in Hamburg, Germany. The targets are made by Indium Corporation?s vertically integrated proprietary process utilizing aerospace powder metallurgy technology. The production process output produces a consistently homogeneous alloy with low PPM contaminate levels and consistent density throughout the target, resulting in very consistent sputtering film properties, Indium Corporation announces in a press release. On August 17th, 2011, Protermosolar (Seville, Spain) announced that Spain can supply all of the electricity it consumes with 4,293 square kilometers of concentrating solar power (CSP) plants, less than 1% of the territory of Spain. The trade organization notes that a total of 61 CSP plants will be operational in 2014, for a total capacity of 2.53 GW. Deutsche Bank ranks German feed-in tariffs as best policy for renewable energy

Deutsche Bank Climate Change Advisors (Frankfurt, Germany) has issued a report which identifies German feed-in tariffs as the "best in class" renewable energy policy, and states that the program will allow PV to grow to 7% of the nation's electricity supply by 2020. "The German Feed-in Tariff for PV: Managing Volume Success with Price Response" cites an evolving policy structure and the ability to manage demand through price as critical to the success of the German program.
