Concentrating solar power: BrightSource Energy adds energy sector leaders to management team

BrightSource Energy, Inc. (Oakland, Calif.), a leading solar thermal, concentrating solar power (CSP) technology company, on August 16th, 2011 added three new energy sector veterans to its management team. The newest members of the leadership team include: Joe Desmond, senior vice president of government affairs and communications; Stephen Wiley, senior vice president of U.S. development; and Yasser Dib, regional vice president of international business development. On August 16th, 2011, Edwards Ltd. (Crawley, U.K.) introduced two new series of dry vacuum pumps optimized for solar laminator applications. Dow Corning begins production of monosilane gas at Michigan plant

On August 17th, 2011, Dow Corning Corporation (Midland, Michigan, U.S.) announced that it has begun production of high purity monosilane gas at its facility in Thomas Township, Michigan, United States. The new production facility has a capacity of 4,000 metric tons annually. Uses for monosilane gas include anti-reflective coating for solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and the deposition of amorphous silicon. Legislation to restore Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs in the U.S. House of Representatives has reached 22 co-sponsors.
