Sovello Canada changes name to Soventix, maintains solar module production in Ontario

Following through on its plans to develop, plan and market its turnkey PV systems in worldwide markets under a new brand name Soventix GmbH advised that Sovello Canada has branded itself with a new name effective immediately. Hereafter, Sovello Canada will now operate under Soventix Canada, but will maintain its operations with the Sovello brand. Read more

Heraeus PV unit expands its presence in Asia with completion of new production facility in Singapore

The photovoltaics division of Heraeus Materials Technology has completed construction on its new Singapore facility, which will produce the company?s silver metallization paste for use in crystalline solar cells. The site will also house the unit?s R&D, sales and technical service operations, all of which began operation in June. The R&D lab was the facility?s most recent completion, having been finalized in July. It plans to have qualification samples ready for customers in the coming weeks. The site?s official opening ceremony will be held in November. Read more

Kyocera adds more solar modules to factory roof at Fukushima plant

Having 8 facilities within the Tokyo Electric Power Company and Tohoku Electric Power Co service areas, Kyocera has increased the size of the rooftop solar power system at its Tanagura manufacturing plant in Fukushima Prefecture, to meet energy reduction targets of 15%, due to the power consumption regulations dictated after the Fukushima nuclear power disaster. U.K. Labour Party challenges FIT cuts amid revelations about U.K. Government collusion with nuclear industry

In a move welcomed by the nation's solar industry, on July 1st, 2011, U.K. Labour Party Leader Ed Miliband enacted a procedure to force a parliamentary debate over massive proposed cuts to feed-in tariff (FIT) levels for solar photovoltaic (PV) plants. The motion came a day after the U.K. Guardian released a series of emails that show cooperation between the current U.K. Government, led by the Conservative Party, and the nation's nuclear industry to downplay the severity of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Fronius offers special - 20 year PV inverter warranty, available for the price of a ten-year warranty

Between July 1st and October 31st 2011, Fronius International is offering its customers the chance to purchase a 20 year warranty for Fronius PV inverters for the same price as a ten year one. If the customer extends its standard manufacturer's warranty from five to ten years during this promotional period, Fronius will extend the warranty to 20 years absolutely free of charge, the company announced. Cenergy Power finalizes 1.7MW solar PV system for Setton Pistachio facility

Setton Pistachio?s 300,000 square foot pistachio processing facility in Terra Bella, California has a new 1.7MW solar system helping to power its production site. Completed by Cenergy Power, two solar PV systems, a 1.120MW carport and a 560.28kW ground-mounted solar array, make up the 1.7MW project that is expected to generate more than 2,600,000kWh of renewable energy every year. Advanced Energy expects hit on revenue due to solar project delays

Utility-scale PV inverter manufacturer, Advanced Energy Industries has revised downwards its second quarter financial results due to the changing market dynamics seen in the solar industry. The company cited PV project construction delays, due to falling prices and delays in permitting and financing, amongst others for the revised guidance. AE expects revenue in the range of US$137-US$140 million, compared to previous guidance range of US$148-US$160 million. Read more

UK council tenants to benefit from free solar electricity

Concentrating Solar Power: Gemasolar plant supplies 24 hours of uninterrupted power to Spanish grid

Indian CSP plants exempted from environmental clearance process

On June 30th, 2011, India's Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) announced that concentrating solar power (CSP) plants are not required to obtain Environmental Clearance through the EIA Notification, 2006. California Air Resources Board delays compliance with cap-and-trade system until 2013
