Sopogy signs MOU to develop 6 MW MicroCSP plant in Thailand

On July 14th, 2011, Sopogy Inc. (Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.) announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MAI Development Company Ltd. (Thailand) to develop a 6 MW solar plant using its MicroCSP technology in Bau Yai, Thailand in 2012. Sopogy has also granted MAI Development exclusive rights to distribute MicroCSP systems in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Read more

Solar City begins construction on 4 MW PV project at U.S. Air Force Base in Hawaii

On July 15th, 2011, SolarCity Corporation (San Mateo, California, U.S.) and Lend Lease Corporation Ltd. (Millers Point, Australia) announced that construction has begun on a 4 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project at Joint Base Pearl-Harbon Hickam near Honolulu, Hawaii. The initial phase will involve the installation of PV systems on 600 roofs on the base. SolarCity will engineer, install and maintain the systems, and sell the electricity generated to Hawaiian Electric Company Inc. (Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.) through a 20-year power purchase agreement. U.S. House subcommittee subpoenas documents related to Solyndra loan guarantee

On July 14th, 2011, a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee voted on party lines to subpoena documents from the Office and Management and Budget (OMB) relating to the issuance of a loan guarantee to Solyndra, Inc. (Fremont, California, U.S.). The subpoena comes despite the OMB's release of 1,400 pages of emails concerning the loan guarantee program, and the subpeona was opposed by subcommittee members from President Obama's U.S. Democratic Party.
