Siemens to supply inverters, transformers for 20 MW Idaho PV plant

On July 13th, 2011, Siemens Industry Inc. (Buffalo Grove, Illinois, U.S.) announced that it has received an order from Interconnect Solar Development LLC (Boise, Idaho, U.S.) to supply inverters, transformers and containers for a 20 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant to be located in the U.S. state of Idaho. The Murphy Flats PV plant will be the first PV plant in Idaho Power Company's (Boise, Idaho, U.S.) service area, as well as the largest PV plant within several states in the region. The plant will use 1000V-DC inverters along with 1000V-DC PV modules. Read more

ACT?s feed-in tariff scheme is closed ? again

Payom Solar AG (Merkendorf, Germany), a manufacturer-independent system supplier of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants, profits increasingly from more and more municipal utilities investing in renewable energies. Through its subsidiary SOLEN Energy GmbH, Payom awarded a contract for the planning and construction of a free-field solar plant with a performance of about 2 megawatt (MW). The Teutoburger Energie Netzwerk e.G. (TEN) is the principal for the power plant in Melle. Read more

Order Focus: DEGERenergie supplies Convergence Energy with trackers for 1MW solar farm in Wisconsin

Convergence Energy?s 1MW solar farm in Delavan, Wisconsin is underway, and DEGERenergie has supplied 114 of its MLD tracking systems of the DEGERtraker 6000NT for the project. NREL testing confirms 16.3% efficiency for XsunX CIGSolar

(Aliso Viejo, Calif.), the developer of CIGSolar, a hybrid, thin-film photovoltaic (TFPV) solar cell manufacturing process, on July 12th, 2011 announced that the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) certified the peak efficiency conversion of 16.36% achieved by XsunX, Inc. for Copper-Indium-Gallium-(di)selenide (CIGS) photovoltaic devices. San Francisco launches group solar purchase program for businesses

On July 13th, 2011, the City of San Francisco, California launched a new program that offers group purchase and financing options for businesses to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, which it says is the first program of its kind in the United States. Organic Energy will now supply SCHOTT Solar PV products

Q-Cells signs sponsorship deal with Borussia Dortmund

House of Lords displays unanimous support for solar

LDK Solar to supply 35 MW of PV modules to Chinese electricity companies

On July 13th, 2011, LDK Solar Company Ltd. (Xinyu City, China) announced that it has signed contracts to supply 35 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to two electric power companies in China. On July 12th, 2011, Mercom Capital Group LLC (Austin, Texas, U.S.) released its report on the movement of capital in the global solar sector during the second quarter of 2011, recording USD 3.27 billion in various forms of investments during the quarter. The company's "Solar Funding and M&A 2Q 2011 Report" notes decreases in venture capital funding, project funding and debt funding from highs in the first quarter of 2011, but a large increase in the value of merger and acquisition activity, which reached USD 2.30 billion. Aide Solar partners with Folium Energy to develop 150 MW of distributed PV in California
