Weak demand in first-half of year forces Conergy to retract financial guidance

Echoing other PV manufacturers comments over weak demand for solar products in key markets such as Germany and Italy in the first-half of the year, Conergy announced after the German stock market had closed that it was retracting its 2011 fiscal year guidance of sales topping ?1 billion. SunPower completes 6MW PV plant at U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado

On June 13th, 2011, SunPower Corporation (San Jose, California, U.S.) and Colorado Springs Utilities (Colorado Springs, Colorado, U.S.) announced the completion of a 6MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. SunPower also announced that it will participate in the construction of a 1.8MW PV plant at a Bloomberg LP (New York, New York, U.S.) facility in Skillman, New Jersey, United States. Read more

SMA Solar Technology AG (SMA/FWB: S92) signed a purchase agreement to acquire dtw Sp.z o.o., one of Poland's largest manufacturers of electromagnetic components, in Krakow today. The US Department of Energy (DOE) has offered a conditional loan guarantee totalling US$1.2 billion to help build a 280MW Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plant in southern California. If confirmed, the DOE guarantee will help fund the construction and start-up of Abengoa?s Mojave Solar Project (MSP), which is to be located around 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles in San Bernardino County.
