Bosch completes 5MW PV plant in England

On June 9th, 2011, Bosch Solar Energy AG (Erfurt, Germany) announced that it has completed a 5MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Trefullock, southern England. The plant comprises 21,000 Bosch M 60 monocrystalline silicon PV modules, covering an area of 18 hectares. Read more

Schott announces more efficient BIPV modules

On June 9th, 2011, Schott Solar AG (Mainz, Germany), announced that it has increased the output of its thin-film building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) modules from 42 watt to 64 watt peak per square meter. Schott notes that it is collaborating with Ebener Fassaden-Profiltechnik (Bad Marienberg, Germany) for incorporating the ASI modules into facades. Read more

Masdar to supply Raabvill with 6MW of large-area PV modules

On June 9th, 2011, Masdar PV GmbH (Ichtershausen, Germany) announced that it will supply its 6MW of its 5.7 square meter thin film solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to Raabvill Kft. (Gyor, Hungary) for a series of six 1MW PV plants. Raabvill will build the first three of these plants in Slovakia, and the companies expect to complete installation of these plants in June 2011. Dow Jones builds 4.1MW PV plant at corporate campus in New Jersey

During Mage Solar?s unveiling of its Powertec Plus modules at Intersolar Europe 2011, the company announced that it had started production of the module line at its Dublin, Georgia plant at the beginning of June. SPI Solar to supply EPC services for up to 300MW of KDC Solar projects

ABB to design and build 10MW PV project for Etrion in Italy

Independent solar power producer, Etrion has selected ABB to design, build and provide maintenance services for Etrion?s 10MW Helios ITA 3 solar project under construction in the Puglia region of Italy. The Helios ITA 3 project includes two 5 MW ground-mounted solar PV parks in Brindisi and Mesagne, which are expected to be completed by August 31, 2011. Solyndra using Ex-Im Bank loan guarantees system to support commercial rooftop projects

Last week during Intersolar Europe 2011, Solyndra announced the completion of the largest commercial rooftop to date that has used its cylindrical-CIGS modules. The 3MW project was completed by solar integrator U|S|E AG, a Solyndra Platinum Solution Provider based in Reutlingen, Germany, with its Belgium subsidiary Enerdeal for Delhaize, an international supermarket chain at one of its distribution centres in Zellik, Belguim. Nova Scotia Enacts Huge Opportunities for Wind

The Canadian province of Nova Scotia is aiming to be a leader in renewable energy by committing to generate 25% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2015 from a current level of 13%. New Jersey Governor to scale back renewable energy goals

On June 7th, 2011, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R) released a draft Energy Master Plan for the U.S. state, abandoning a goal set by former New Jersey Governor Corzine (D) to reach 30% renewable energy by 2021. Governor Christie characterized his move to return the state to its legislated mandate of 22.5% renewable energy by 2021 as realism and protection for ratepayers. The proposed reduction in goals has been widely denounced by environmental and clean energy groups. Read more
