Emcore to supply Space Systems/Loral with multi-junction PV cells, reports quarterly financial results including net loss of USD 5.2 million

On May 5th, 2011, Emcore Corporation (Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.) announced that it has entered into an agreement to supply Space Systems/Loral Inc. (SS/L, San Jose, California, U.S.) with high-efficiency multi-junction solar photovoltaic (PV) cells for SS/L's satellite programs. Also on May 5th, 2011, the company announced its financial results for the quarter which ended on March 31st, 2011, reporting revenues of USD 47.2 million, and a net loss of USD 5.2 million. Bosch to build 150 MW PV module production lines at Vénissieux (France) facility

May 3rd, 2011, Bosch Solar Energy AG (Erfurt, Germany) announced that it will manufacture crystalline silicon solar photovoltaic (PV) modules in Vénissieux, France. The production plant will have an annual output capacity of 150 MW, start of production is planned for January 2012. ?This investment will secure the future viability of the location, as well as the jobs of our Vénissieux associates,? said Robert Bosch France President Guy Maugis. ?At the same time, Bosch is expanding its product portfolio in France to include the innovative field of renewable energy.? Colorado Senate passes bill to control permit costs of PV systems

On May 4th, 2011, a bill to control permitting costs for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems under 2 MW passed the senate of the U.S. state of Colorado, and will now go to the state's governor for approval. HB11-1199 would limit state governments from charging fees above USD 500 for residential applications and USD 2,000 for non-residential applications for PV systems, as well as extending existing limits on fees by municipalities and counties. SolarWorld provides over 6,000 solar panels for 1.56MW carport solar system at Cincinnati Zoo

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is home to a new 1.56MW parking lot canopy solar system, which uses 6,400 solar panels from SolarWorld. The fifteen solar arrays cover 800 of the 1,000 parking spaces in the zoo?s primary parking lot and are expected to deliver 20% of the zoo?s power needs. Celestica ramps production of SolarBridge inverters in China factory

PV in Colorado: Black Hills Energy to restart solar rebate program

The Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association (CoSEIA, Boulder, Colorado, U.S.) has announced that it has reached an agreement with Black Hills Energy (Denver, Colorado, U.S.) for the utility to restart its solar rebate program. (Camarillo, California, U.S.) announced its first quarter 2011 financial results, reporting USD 152 million in revenues in its Renewable Energy division, an 85% increase over the first quarter of 2010. Daqo New Energy posts higher revenue and income for Q1; company holds conservative outlook for Q2

Daqo New Energy?s first quarter 2011 financials show the company increasing their revenues, income and polysilicon shipments over 2010?s fourth quarter results, but the company still holds a conservative outlook for its second quarter 2011. Revenues for Q1 amounted to US$87.3 million, a 6.6% increase over Q4 2010. The company acknowledges that its revenue growth can be credited to an escalation in its polysilicon sales, which amounted to 1,089MT during Q1. Read more
