Chevron, California school district complete 7.1 MW of PV at 13 sites

East Side Union High School District (San Jose, Calif.) and Chevron Energy Solutions (San Francisco, California) on May 20th, 2011 announced the completion of construction for the largest K-12 solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy efficiency program in the United States. The program is expected to generate $43 million in savings through a 7.1 MW solar and energy efficiency project on 13 sites. Read more

Yingli announces unaudited financial results for Q1, 2011; decrease in PV module shipments

On May 20th, 2011, Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Ltd. (Baoding, China) announced unaudited financial results for the first quarter of 2011, reporting a 14.4% quarter-to-quarter decrease in net revenues to USD 527 million, and a similar decrease in solar photovoltaic (PV) module shipments. The company's results are in line with an updated quarterly guidance released May 11th, 2011, and the company has maintained its full-year guidance. Read more

Main Street Power breaks ground on AWC campus; project to use five different PV technologies

Owned and operated by Main Street Power, the solar installation will bear a unique marker, as the five-1MW sites across the campus will include CPV panels from SolFocus and GreenVolts, thin-film panels from Sharp Solar, monocrystalline panels from Solar World and polycrystalline panels from Suntech. Phoenix Solar inaugurates two solar parks at former German military airbase

Solar energy systems integrator, Phoenix Solar has inaugurated two PV power plants at a former military air base in Neisse-Malxetal, Brandenburg, Germany for KGAL. Both power plants, (total peak power of 18MW) are separated by a runway which is three kilometres long and therefore belong to different neighbouring municipalities. According to Phoenix Solar, the solar parks were operational in 2010. Read more

Order Focus: GT Solar reaches 3000th DSS furnace shipment milestone

GT Solar has shipped 1,000 DSS multicrystalline ingot growth furnaces in seven months having announced a new milestone of its 3,000th DSS system being shipped to customer, Gigastorage in Hsinchu, Taiwan. It was only in early November, 2010 that GT Solar announced it had reached a new milestone of its 2,000th DSS system shipment, then to another Taiwan-based PV producer, Green Energy Technology (GET). New technology could break solar PV limits; MU engineer part of team making solar panels more effective in collecting energy

Photovoltaic (PV) efficiency is a significant problem for today?s commercial solar panels, which can collect only a theoretical maximum of about 30 percent of available light. Now, a team that includes a University of Missouri (Columbia) engineer is developing a flexible solar film that can theoretically capture more than 90 percent of available light. Japan contemplates making solar compulsory on all new builds

India Balances Development against Emissions
