Saint-Gobain brings Avancis PowerMax CIS solar modules to North American market

After installing Avancis PowerMax PV modules at its Phoenix, Arizona headquarters, Saint-Gobain Solar has revealed that it will be begin offering the CIS modules to the North American market. The PowerMax black panels are IEC and UL certified and can be installed on roofs, curtain walls and canopies and feature a CIS technology that is deposited in thin layers on the glass substrate. Sanmina-SCI agrees to manufacture Santerno PV inverters at its Ontario facility

Sanmina-SCI will be helping Santerno meet Ontario?s FiT domestic content requirements under a new deal the companies mutually entered. No financial or timeline details were revealed, but it was made known that Sanmina-SCI will manufacture Santerno?s solar PV inverters at its Ottawa, Ontario, Canada facility. The agreement?s production capacity was not disclosed, however the inverters produced will be for commercial application and help Santerno expand its North American manufacturing-base. Read more

Toys"R"Us announces plans to install North America's largest PV rooftop system at distribution center in New Jersey; 5.38MW structure to occupy 869,294 square feet

Toys"R"Us, Inc. on May 11th, 2011 announced plans to add the largest rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) power installation in North America to its distribution center in Flanders, NJ. Staging for the system is currently underway and construction will conclude this summer, the company reports. Upon completion, the 5.38 megawatt (MW) on-site solar energy system will occupy 869,294 square feet and is estimated to cover 72 percent of the electrical needs for the Toys"R"Us facility. Read more

Spire Corporation revenues increase 2% in 1Q 2011, reports net loss

On May 10th, 2011, Spire Corporation (Bedford, Massachusetts, U.S.) announced its first quarter 2011 financial results, reporting revenues of USD 18.4 million, a 2% increase from the fourth quarter of 2010. The company reported a net loss for the quarter of USD 2.0 million, but also an increase of 43% in solar cell sales over the first quarter of 2010. Read more

Nevada considers bill to create pilot feed-in tariff program

Q-Cells sales crash in first quarter

Sales at Q-Cells fell by approximately 46% in the first quarter of 2011 to ?125.1 million, compared to ?232.3 million in the first quarter of 2010. The company cited a string of market issues that were responsible for the crash in sales, held higher by the sale of a utility-scale project in Strasskirchen, Germany that provided proceeds of ?72.5 million and the ?20 million sale of electricity trading company QCCS at the end of 2010. The cluster system uses four distinct Sunale ALD reactors, which are combined into a ?four-leaf clover? geometry using a common central unit housing an automated vacuum robot. Picosun maintains that this design allows for the concurrent running of multiple coating processes with different precursors, including ozone and plasma treatments for precursors that have limited reactivity or substrates with a sensitive surface or low temperature requirement. Arizona Public Service customer?s renewable energy usage grew by 26% in 2010

In its recent official report to the Arizona Corporation Commission, Arizona Public Service (APS) revealed that in 2010 its customers received 826,534MWh of renewable energy; a 26% improvement over 2009. In fact, APS received so much renewable energy last year that it exceeded Arizona?s energy goals for the third straight year.
