Alta Devices raises US$72 million in funding round

Alta Devices, a next-generation thin-film PV start-up, has raised US$72 million in funding , which will go towards the commercialization of the company?s products as well as focusing on new technology that will improve production economics of high efficiency solar PV. Returning investors include August Capital, Perkins Caufield and Byers, Crosslink Capital, DAG Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Presidio Ventures Technology Partners and Dow Chemical. Read more

Energy Smart builds 100kW plant in Estonia

France?s FiT restructuring likely to go through this month

At reported at the end of February 2011 the French Government announced a proposed restructuring of the nation?s feed-in tariffs (FiT) for solar photovoltaics. Number one in solar: Suntech tops $2.9 billion in revenues, 1.57GW in module shipments

Suntech became the number-one solar company in the world, beating its guidance for the quarter and the year, as it fourth-quarter net revenues hit a record-high $945 million and its fiscal-year revenues totaled more than $2.9 billion. Annual shipments of PV modules also topped their target, reaching 1.572GW?more than double the amount shipped in the previous year?with fourth-quarter shipments reaching 7MW per day at the peak of the period, according to company executives. POET cuts water use by more than 400 million gallons

POET plants have reduced water use by a total of 411 million gallons of water per year compared to 2009 levels thanks to widespread installation of the company's Total Water Recovery technology. Asahi Kasei Plastics invests US$5.5 million in manufacturing expansion
