Kioto Photovoltaics buys centrotherm module production line

Austria?s Kioto Photovoltaics has bought a turnkey module line for its new 50MW manufacturing system from centrotherm photovoltaics. Prepayment for the system has already been made and it will be delivered to Kioto in Q2, with the first solar modules being produced at the start of Q3. Read more

Amtech tops fiscal 2010?s solar orders with 2011?s year-to-date order total of US$182 million

Amtech Systems revealed that its year-to-date solar orders for fiscal 2011 have totaled US$182 million; a US$20 million increase over total orders in fiscal 2010, which finished with US$162 million. The US$182 million in solar orders includes US$54 million for solar orders placed in the quarter that ends March 31. Their 2011 fiscal year began October 1, 2010. Read more

BioSolar?s BioBacksheet granted full UL materials certification

BioSolar?s organic materials-based module backsheet, the BioBacksheet, has been granted full Underwriter?s Laboratories (UL) materials certification. The announcement comes one month after the company first revealed that the BioBacksheet was in the final stages of UL certification testing. Update: Italian cabinet decides not to set annual cap for overall PV market?for now

As expected, the Italian cabinet signed off on a solar policy without a 8GW annual cap, but did institute a 1MW cap on farmland projects. Under the new policy, projects are required to be connected to the grid before May 31 to benefit from the current feed-in tarrifs. Any new FiT decision for projects beyond May would likely be made by April 30, according to published reports. Read more

Enphase Energy Expands Globally with First European Offices
