Crystalline supply chain prices falling on lower feed-in tariffs, says IMS Research

The introduction of lower feed-in tariffs in some of the key PV markets at the being of the year are causing prices to fall throughout the crystalline supply chain, according to the latest quarterly report from IMS Research. Polysilicon, wafer, cell and module prices are expected to fall 7% on average in the first quarter and are expected to continue to decline in the second quarter. Read more

ALD technology to be commercialized for volume c-Si cells by SoLayTec

Soltec partners with Shukun & Binui Solaria for 6.7MW solar installation in Israel

Soltec Renewable Energies is calling the 6.7MW PV plant it plans to build with Shikun & Binui Solaria one of the largest in Israel. Construction on the PV project will begin this year in southern Israel at the old Timna Copper Mines. The solar project is part of the joint venture the two companies formed, which aims to construct 12MW of large-scale solar installations in Israel throughout 2011 and 2012. Read more

The US$33 million contract was booked during 2010?s fourth quarter with the three plants anticipated to be operational by 2011?s third quarter. Barclays Capital raising PV forecast for 2010-11: warns of shrinking EU market in 2012 onwards

Global solar demand fundamentals remain strong, according to Barclays Capital, financial analyst, Vishal Shah, at least for the near-term. Stronger than expected PV installations in some of the key markets, such as Germany and Italy mean that the Barclays Capital analysts has increased his forecast for 2010 to 18.5GW, up from a previous projection of 15.5GW, installed. Solar demand across the EU is forecasted to have reached approximately 14.5GW, last year. Read more
