Canadian Solar modules used in Italian 10 MW PV plant

Canadian Solar Inc. (Kitchener, Ontario, U.S.) has announced that it supplied a portion of the solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, including its CS6P-P series modules, for a 10 MW PV plant on a former mining depot in Cavriglia, Italy. The PV plant was constructed by Coop Cellini Impianti Tecnologici (Prato, Italy), and commissioned in October 2011. Read more

EMCORE PV modules power NASA Mars Science Laboratory spacecraft

On November 30th, 2011, EMCORE Corp. (Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.) announced that it has delivered solar photovoltaic (PV) panels for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) spacecraft, which was successfully launched on November 26th, 2011. EMCORE had a contract with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Center in Pasadena, California, to deliver the solar panels, which will power the Mars Science Laboratory spacecraft during its cruise stage to Mars. Martifer Solar completes 5 MW PV plant in Normandy, France

On November 29th, 2011 Martifer Solar SA (Oliveira De Frades, Portugal) announced that it has completed a 5 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant on the site of former Second World War military camp in Normandy, France. The company states that is preserved the historic bunker and galleries at the site, which it turned into an operations room, and that it completed the plant in only 12 weeks. Read more

On November 29th, 2011, First Solar Inc. (Tempe, Arizona, U.S.) announced that it had signed the 2?C Challenge Communiqué as global leaders converged on Durban, South Africa, for the next round of United Nations climate change debate. The 2?C Challenge Communiqué is initiated by The Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change (CLG) and managed and developed by the University of Cambridge Program for Sustainability Leadership. Solar Nation commissions 2 MW PV plant in Pennsylvania

On November 30th, 2011, Solar Nation (Portland, Oregon, U.S.) announced that it has commissioned a 2 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) system on Romark Logistics' storage warehouse in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Solar Nation designed, engineered and built the solar system, which will meet 34% of Romark Logistics' electricity needs at the warehouse. Read more

SolarWorld supplies modules, racking for 11.6 MW PV plant in Southern California

On November 30th, 2011 SolarWorld Industries Americas Inc. (Hillsboro, Oregon, U.S.) announced that construction has begun on a 11.6 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant utilizing SolarWorld modules and tracking systems at a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) facility 105 km north of Los Angeles, California. SolarWorld Power Projects (Camarillo, California, U.S.) designed and procured the plant, which will be comprised of 46,300 250-watt SolarWorld PV modules, SolarWorld's Sunfix Ground Mount system, and 13 SMA inverters.
