Sustainable Energy unveils 4.6 kW PV inverter to accompany battery packages

In November 2011 Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd. (SET, Calgary, Canada) announced that it will manufacture a 4.6-kW high-efficiency solar PV inverter for grid-interactive 48 volt lithium ion and lead acid battery packages. The PARALEX "GTS", which is based on the proven PARALEX solar inverter platform, will target an immediate demand in Germany for grid interactive inverters to store solar energy for on-site consumption driven by incremental tariffs of up to 0.09 Euros per kWh, SET emphasizes. Palmdale, PsomasFMG complete phase 1 of 5.87-MW PV plants at California schools

On November 3rd, 2011, Palmdale School District and PsomasFMG announced that they have completed first phase of the three-phase, 5.873-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power system that is being installed at 18 of the district's 24 schools in California. The solar system features photovoltaic panels mounted atop carport structures. Eight of 18 sites are installed, and all are scheduled to be fully operational by the spring of 2012. Suntech announces preliminary financial results for Q3, 2011, confirms shipment and gross margin guidance

Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (WUXI, China), the world's largest producer of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, on November 9th, 2011 announced preliminary and unaudited financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2011. Suntech expects shipments for the third quarter of 2011 to increase by over 15% from the second quarter of 2011, in line with previous guidance. Revenues in the third quarter of 2011 are expected to exceed USD 800 million (Q2: USD 831 million). Read more

Chinese PV producer ReneSola downgrades 3Q 2011 guidance

On November 7th, 2011, ReneSola Ltd. (Jiashan, China) downgraded its third quarter 2011 guidance for shipments, revenues, margins and income, stating that it now anticipates a net income of USD -7.5 to -8.5 million. ReneSola now expects wafer and solar photovoltaic (PV) module shipments in the range of 320 to 330 MW, a 4% decrease from previous estimates, revenues in the range of USD 185 to 195 million, and gross margins of -3% to -5%. U.S., Chinese PV industry players form organization to oppose SolarWorld trade petition

The growing conflict in the PV industry based on a trade petition by SolarWorld Industries Americas Inc. (Hillsboro, Oregon, U.S.) and allies against the Chinese PV industry has taken another turn. On November 8th, 2011, 25 solar photovoltaic (PV) companies, many based in the U.S., announced the formation of a new organization to oppose the recently filed trade petitions, named Coalition for Affordable Solar Energy (CASE). The formation of this organization came on the same day that SolarWorld testified before the International Trade Commission (ITC) that China's subsidies to its PV industries are causing job losses and economic damage in the U.S. PV industry. British Renewable Energy Association and Solar Trade Association: 1/3 of U.K. PV companies may close due to FIT cuts

Arizona?s largest solar project is now in operation
