ARISE Technologies announces filing of insolvency proceedings at its German PV technology centre

ARISE Technologies Corporation (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada), on November 8th, 2011 announced that it has voluntarily filed to place its wholly-owned German subsidiary, ARISE Technology Centre GmbH, (Gelsenkirchen, Germany), into structured insolvency. The photovoltaic (PV) Technology Centre was created in October, 2009 when the Company finalized its agreement with Scheuten Solar (Venlo, The Netherlands) to purchase the operation which is located in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. On October 17th, 2011, the Company announced that it was directed by an arbiter in Germany to pay Scheuten Solar the amount of EUR 920,066. Read more

SolarWorld solar cells made in Germany reach once around the globe; Deutsche Cell GmbH in Freiberg celebrates 10th anniversary

The production of German solar cells made by SolarWorld in Freiberg in Saxony celebrates its 10-year anniversary. The cells produced by the SolarWorld subsidiary Deutsche Cell GmbH would, if laid end to end, reach once around the globe. Since the inception of Deutsche Cell, the capacity of cell production in Freiberg has been increased by a factor of ten, the degree of efficiency of the cells has been continuously increased and the costs have been just as continuously reduced. In the last five years alone, the costs of solar cell production could be reduced by two thirds, the company emphasizes. Read more

On November 8th, 2011, SolarCity Corporation (San Mateo, California, U.S.) announced that it has received the 2011 Green Jobs Award by the SJF Institute for its success in creating more than 1,300 "green" jobs. SolarCity has added more than 1,200 of these jobs since the beginning of the recession in December 2007. Sungevity to donate solar light kits to schools in Zambia

Sungevity Inc. (Oakland, California, U.S.) and Empowered by Light have launched a program to provide solar light kits to schools in the nation of Zambia. Constellation Energy completes 6.5 MW-AC PV project in New Jersey

On November 9th, 2011 Constellation Energy Group Inc. (Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.) announced the completion of a 6.5 MW-AC solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Vineland in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Constellation Energy's retail business unit built, owns and will maintain the PV plant, and will sell the electricity generated to the City of Vineland under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
