Enphase microinverters achieve certifications for European use

On October 5th, 2011, Enphase Energy Inc. (Petaluma, California, U.S.) announced that it has received certification for its microinverter products from regulatory bodies for Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg and The Netherlands. The company's M215-60-230 microinverters have met the ENEL Guidelines for Italy and conform to VDE European safety standards. Enphase states that it will begin shipping European-certified products by the end of 2011 to select European nations. Read more

PV manufacturing: Owens Design unveils silicon wafer Inspection Automation Platform

On October 5th, 2011, Owens Design Inc. (Fremont, California, U.S.) introduced a crystalline silicon (c-Si) wafer inspection automation tool optimized for use with production-volume, high-speed solar photovoltaic (PV) wafer inspection applications. Owens states that its c-Si Inspection Automation Platform can be customized to meet factory automation requirements, and can deliver up to 3600 wafers per hour. Read more

Wanxiang to supply reference standard PV modules to Spire

On October 5th, 2011, Wanxiang New Energy LLC (Rockford, Illinois, U.S.) announced that it will supply solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to serve as reference standards for calibration of Spire Corporation's (Bedford, Massachusetts, U.S.) Spi-Sun Simulator. Spire notes that calibration modules must be built to very high quality standards, and states that Wanxiang is quickly becoming a top supplier of state-of-the-art PV modules. Read more

Preliminary results: Ontario's feed-in tariff safe from Conservatives

Unofficial results from elections in the Canadian Province of Ontario may mean that the province's feed-in tariff program for renewable energy generation will continue. Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) Leader Tim Hudak had promised to end the program if elected, however as of 11:30 PM Eastern Time, US and Canada, preliminary election results show the Ontario Liberal Party winning 53 seats versus the PC's 37. Solon ?curbs? production output in Germany

Array Power has officially launched its new Sequence Inverter technology, which has been especially designed for commercial-scale solar installations. The company advised that it works with solar manufacturers so that its Sequence technology can be integrated during the module production process. Per Array Power, the Sequenced Inverter diminishes the number of critical components needed to operate, which helps better productions costs and the overall reliability of the inverter. Read more

Kyocera Solar provides solar modules for university carport projects in Texas and California

Greece looks to finalize US$27 billion solar project by end of the year

Liang is a co-managing partner of investment banking firm CLA Partners in China. On October 6th, 2011, think tank Third Way (Washington D.C., U.S.) announced that Jonathan Silver, the Executive Director of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Loan Guarantee Office will leave the agency to join Third Way. The DOE claims that Silver had earlier stated that he would leave soon after the September 30th, 2011 deadline for finalizing loan agreements. However, Silver's departure comes as the agency has come under heavy criticism for the awarding of a USD 535 million loan guarantee to Solyndra LLC (Fremont, California, U.S.), which declared bankruptcy on August 31st, 2011.
