SolFocus, Granite Chief partner to develop CPV in Mexico, starting with 1 MW CPV plant in Guanajuato

On October 12th, 2011, SolFocus Inc. (San Jose, California, U.S.) and Granite Chief SA de CV (Saltillo, Mexico) announced a partnership whereby Granite Chief will lead the deployment of concentrating solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in various market sectors in Mexico using SolFocus technology. As a first project, Granite Chief will build a 1 MW CPV plant in Apaseo el Grande in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, to provide power to Granite Chief's factory. Construction on the plant is scheduled for late 2011, with completion in early 2012. Read more

On October 11th, 2011, FLABEG (Nuremberg, Germany) and Schlaich Bergermann und Partner (Stuttgart, Germany) announced that they are teaming up to make CSP technology more competitive. Since January 2010, a high level engineering team comprised of both companies is developing a brand new solar thermal collector - the "Ultimate Trough". On October 11th, 2011, the City of Dinuba, Calif., announced that it teamed with Tioga Energy (San Francisco, Calif.) and Chevron Energy Solutions (San Francisco, Calif.) to develop a 1.15-MW solar electric system that will reduce energy costs for operations at the city's wastewater treatment plant.
