Kyocera modules obtain TÜV certification

Kyocera?s 210-watt solar module has become the first module in the world to pass all four of TÜV Rheinland long-term sequential tests. Interim results were announced last October, but Kyocera has only now received the full TÜV certification. Read more

IMS Research expects continued strong growth of PV inverter market despite overcapacity

A new report from IMS Research highlights that the PV inverter market has gone from chronic shortages to major overcapacity in the last 12-months. New Mexico?s 30MW Cimarron Solar plant begins commercial operation

The 30MW (AC) Cimarron Solar Facility in Colfax County, New Mexico has reached completion and began its commercial operation in early December 2010. The solar project was developed and built by First Solar, who also supplied 500,000 CdTe solar modules for the solar plant, which is constructed over 364 acres. Southern Company and Ted Turner cooperate with each other for the acquisition of the project from First Solar in March 2010. First Solar will continue to provide maintenance and operation services under a long-term contract for the facility. Read more

CTDC completes construction of transparent module BIPV project in China

China Technology Development Group (CTDC) has successfully finished building its BIPV project at the Ecological Garden in Xiamen Bay, China using its transparent polycrystalline PV modules. The company calls this the first Chinese ecological transparent module BIPV project. CTDC designed and installed the transparent module BIPV system, which comprises an 18.6kW capacity and will produce 30,000kWh of electricity per year. Read more
