Project Focus: Starwood SSM2 reaches financial close on 30MW power plant in Ontario

Starwood Energy Group's affiliate, Starwood SSM2 Canada Incorporated, has reached financial close on a 30MW solar photovoltaic project in the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The Starwood SSM2 project will consist of three 10MW PV power generation projects, contracted under the Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP), developed and overseen by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA), and connected to local utility PUC Distribution. Taiwan has reportedly increased its target for generating power from renewable sources after the new feed-in tariff law significantly increased the demand for emissions-free electricity on the island. The new installed power capacity target is set to reach 16% by 2025 in comparison to the previous 15.1% milestone. Siemens Energy is to construct three turnkey photovoltaic plants, totalling 3MWp, located in Italy for customer Viridis Energia - the joint venture between Echidna and La.G.I. Scatec Solar has now completed the grid connection of two solar parks totalling 2.65MW, in the south eastern region of the Czech Republic. Despite previous studies undertaken to test possible health and safety issues surrounding cadmium - using PV modules such as those supplied by First Solar - the major Australia-based PV installer and distributer, Energy Matters, is calling for new, independent tests. Project Focus: Positive Energy to construct a 2MWp park in Lakonia, Greece
