Order Focus: Manz eyes Chinese PV manufacturers adopting advanced cell processing equipment

Manz Automation has secured new orders from the FPD and PV industries worth more than €50 million. Although Manz didn’t disclose the proportion of new equipment orders that related to PV manufacturing, the company noted that orders from the PV industry were primarily from Chinese producers adopting advanced technology for the fabrication of crystalline solar cells. Rhodia is planning to install 12,000m² of PV panels at the Rhodia Belle-Etoile site in Rhône, France. Solairedirect, the solar module manufacturer, and OFI Asset Management will partner Rhodia on the project, which will boast a peak capacity of 2MW and produce two million kilowatt hours of electricity per annum. Canadian Solar has completed and activated what it claims as the largest private solar electric system in Worcester, Massachusetts on the roof of the McDonough Center at the Bancroft School. The 105kW roof-mount was activated before the 2010 school year began and utilizes 462 Canadian Solar CS6P-230P polycrystalline modules. United Solar has finished work on a solar power project for the rooftop of the Moon Palace Hotel in Cancun, Mexico. November 30, 2010: K2 Solar, Inc. successfully completed the installation of a 362 kW DC solar PV system for the County of San Mateo in Redwood City, CA. The system consists of seven solar carport assemblies on the top level of a 5-story parking structure adjacent to the County Center Building and provides over 1/3 of the energy consumed in the building. The system will produce over 515,000 kWh annually and will save the County over $60k per year in energy costs.
