What is the Top50-Solar Toplist?

In the Top50-Solar Toplist you will find all the most popular internet sites concerned with solar energy and renewable energies. According to website user traffic statistics, this list shows in descending order which internet offers are the most popular. With one click on “More Information” you will be sent to the detailed page of a company with more information and where you will also find a link directing you straight to the member’s website.

Why is there a Toplist and a Company Directory?

Whereas the Toplist gives you listings sorted in descending order by the amount of user traffic an offer has (this is also the case with an advanced search or with tags), the Company Directory simply lists companies alphabetically. We hence offer two entirely different forms of search: The Toplist addresses for example the question which internet offers to do with subject A or keyword B are most frequently visited online (and equally are relevant for the most users)? A search in the Company Directory offers specific answers, for example to the following question: There is a solar energy company that starts with the letter “P” located in the Munich surroundings, what is it called again? Should you happen to know the name of a particular company you can simply enter this into the Solar Search search field and then click on the tab “Results on Top50-Solar.”  Here you find more information about Solar Search.

What is the “Geographical View“?

We give you the option of finding location specific companies on a map. Should you want to know for instance where companies in your listed results of the Toplist are located (let’s say for example this be for listings 51-100), then you need only click on the tab “Geographical View.” Due to performance purposes, only this exact selection will initially be shown (please bear in mind however that we can only show companies that have submitted us with their address).A click on the illustrated pin will show you more information about these companies. With the ranking dropdown you can very easily change your selections e.g. alter the search to show rankings 101 to 150 on the map. You can then click on the button “Show All” to see all the entries from the Toplist on the map at once. This can however take a considerable amount of time (approx 10-30 seconds) depending on the performance of your computer and your internet connection.

What is the “Advanced Search“?

The Advanced Search gives you the option of sorting the Top50-Solar List according to specific criteria (e.g. according to specialist field, country of origin, postal code, homepage layout or form of company). A click on an entry selects it or cancels the previous search criteria. You can also combine various search options. By doing this, with just a few clicks you can for instance find “all companies involved in photovoltaic technology, situated in the postal code 2 area.” If you prefer an alphabetical listing then you can also make use of the Company Directory that functions in a similar way.

What is the “Tags” feature?

Every member has the option of tagging his entry with keywords. This function enables users to find all members involved with a specific keyword simply and easily. Make use of this for example to find all the companies that provide inverters or batteries. As this function has only recently been added to Top50-Solar’s spectrum of services it may well be the case that not all members have yet tagged their entries.

How can I add my company/homepage to the Toplist?

I know of a company but I can’t find it in the Toplist, what’s the problem here?

Although Top50-Solar membership is free of charge, we do not add companies to our lists without prior permission. Companies must register themselves. Our recommendation: contact the relevant company for instance with the example email shown below and draw their attention to the services offered by Top50-Solar. Make sure that you add the address info-en(at)top50-solar.de in cc so that we know about it. We would also like to expressly point out that this is no call to SPAM and that we distance ourselves from any violation of this kind.

Can I or should I register my homepage with as many toplists as possible?

One could presume that the more toplists I register my homepage with the better. From the experience of Top50-Solar members who have periodically registered with other toplists, there has been no benefit in the number of new visitors who don’t come to them anyway via Top50-Solar. We therefore recommend the following:
Start with a professional layout to your homepage.  Make use of the modern Top50-Solar logo for added distinction. Avoid “upsetting” the design by using completely different logos from other toplists. You will soon see that this approach pays off.
